With the diminution of revenues due to Brexit and the decision to reduce
Cohesion funding as the East realised the expected progress, the
allocation of most European countries is expected to diminish in the
next budget framework. Central European countries are particularly
impacted by the cut. Conversely, Southern Europe appears spared: Spain,
Italy and South-Eastern Europe are exceptions to the above rule. The
European Commission took into consideration GDP evolution figures mainly
(see map 2) before proposing this scenario to the European Council and
to the European Parliament.
